The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has launched an online survey to gather public input on transportation needs and proposed improvements for Route 259 (Mayland Road), which runs between Route 11 (Valley Pike) in Rockingham County and Broadway Avenue in the Town of Broadway.

According to VDOT, the survey is available from September 9 through September 23 at https://publicinput.com/route259alts. The study team is seeking feedback on recommendations designed to improve safety and mobility along this corridor.

“This study is funded through VDOT’s Strategically Targeted and Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program. STARS is a collaborative effort between VDOT, Rockingham County and the Town of Broadway. VDOT serves as the project manager for the study with ATCS of Herndon, Va., as a consulting partner for developing the study, supporting analysis and improvement concepts.”

Final recommendations from the study will be reviewed by local officials in Rockingham County and the Town of Broadway for possible advancement through state or federal transportation funding programs.

Additional details about the project can be found on VDOT’s Route 259 study webpage. Updates are also available via social media platforms such as Facebook, X (Twitter), and on VDOT’s main website at https://www.vdot.virginia.gov.
