The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is seeking public input on current travel conditions along Route 200 in Lancaster County. This initiative is part of the Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) study, which aims to evaluate potential safety and operational improvements on Route 200 between Old Saint Johns Road and Yorkshire Road.

The study’s objective is to address issues related to safety, congestion, and access management within the designated area. VDOT is collaborating with Lancaster County and the Northern Neck Planning District Commission on this project.

Public feedback will play a crucial role in identifying specific locations along Route 200 that may require enhancements. An online survey has been made available for comments at https://publicinput.com/route200study until May 27, 2025.

VDOT’s STARS program works with local planning staff and stakeholders to tackle transportation challenges across Virginia. Draft recommendations for potential projects are expected to be shared with the public in fall 2025, allowing further public commentary before finalizing the plan.

While the study will not establish construction timelines for any proposed improvements, it will outline potential projects that localities can seek funding for. Written or emailed comments can also be sent to Linda LaSut, VDOT Assistant Planning Manager, at 87 Deacon Road, Fredericksburg, VA 22405 or fred.comments@vdot.virginia.gov. Emails should include “Route 200 in Lancaster” in the subject line.
