The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is requesting public input on two transportation studies in Stafford County. The studies are evaluating possible improvements along Route 684 (Mine Road) and Route 652 (Truslow Road) as part of the Project Pipeline Program.

The focus areas for these studies include Mine Road between Juggins Road Connector and Exeter Lane, and Truslow Road between Stafford Plaza Drive and Route 17. VDOT began assessing transportation issues along these corridors earlier this year. The goals are to address congestion, improve safety, and enhance access for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users.

Preliminary designs for potential improvements have been developed and are available for public review through online surveys. According to VDOT, “The recommendations are not scheduled or funded as construction projects at this time. The study partners may consider the improvements for possible advancement through future local, regional, state and federal transportation funding programs.”

Community feedback collected in Spring 2025 helped identify current issues within the study areas and informed the development of recommended solutions. Now, VDOT is inviting additional comments from the public on these proposed improvements as part of the next phase of the study process.

Both online surveys will remain open until Monday, November 24:

– Truslow Road Online Survey: https://publicinput.com/fr-25-07alts

Project Pipeline was established by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB) as a performance-based planning initiative to find cost-effective responses to Virginia’s transportation needs. The program is led by Virginia’s Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment (OIPI), with collaboration from VDOT and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT).

Final reports for both studies are expected in 2026. Recommended concepts may be considered for statewide funding opportunities such as SMART SCALE, Revenue Sharing, or the Virginia Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), along with regional or local sources.
