The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is requesting public input on three transportation studies that are examining potential safety improvements in Chesterfield, Hanover, and Henrico counties. The studies focus on ways to enhance roadway safety along specific corridors.
Residents and travelers can participate by taking online surveys regarding proposed alternatives for Route 150 (Chippenham Parkway), Route 642 (Bell Creek Road), and Route 627 (Richmond-Henrico Turnpike/Meadowbridge Road). The surveys for Chippenham Parkway and Bell Creek Road will be available until Friday, November 21, while the survey for Richmond-Henrico Turnpike/Meadowbridge Road will remain open through Monday, December 1.
Community members are encouraged to review the recommended alternatives developed from detailed analysis and previous public feedback. VDOT states: “Community members are encouraged to review and provide input regarding recommended alternatives that have been developed based on detailed studies and the feedback received from the public earlier this year.”
The study for Route 150 in Chesterfield County is evaluating safety and operational improvements between Dalebrook Drive and I-95. For Route 642 in Hanover County, the focus is on enhancements from Route 360 (Mechanicsville Turnpike) to Cold Harbor Road. In Henrico County, the assessment covers Route 627 between Azalea Avenue and I-295.
According to VDOT, “The studies are expected to be completed in summer 2026; they do not set construction dates for any improvements. The studies will recommend projects, solutions, and investment strategies that may be considered for statewide funding programs such as SMART SCALE, Revenue Sharing, and Virginia Highway Safety Improvements Program.”
