The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), in collaboration with Prince William County and the Northern Virginia Transportation Authority (NVTA), is conducting a study to evaluate potential improvements along Sudley Manor Drive. The focus is on the stretch from Prince William Parkway (Route 234) to Sudley Road (Route 234 Business).

VDOT is encouraging residents and travelers to participate in an online survey concerning this approximately two-mile section of Sudley Manor Drive. The study aims to address safety, multimodal accessibility and connectivity, mitigation/preservation, and transportation demand management needs.

Feedback from the community will offer valuable insights into current transportation issues within the corridor. This input will assist the study team in formulating recommendations for potential improvements. These recommendations will be evaluated and presented during the next phase of the study, which will also include another opportunity for public comment.

The survey, equipped with a translation tool for various languages, remains open until June 16. Besides participating in the survey, comments can be sent via email to meetingcomments@vdot.virginia.gov with “Sudley Manor Drive Project Pipeline Study” as the subject line or mailed to Ms. Xiao Cui at VDOT’s Fairfax office.

This initiative is part of Project Pipeline, a program established by the Commonwealth Transportation Board (CTB). Project Pipeline focuses on identifying cost-effective solutions for multimodal transportation needs across Virginia. It is managed by Virginia’s Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment (OIPI) alongside VDOT and the Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT).

While this study does not set construction dates for any proposed improvements, it aims to conclude by summer 2026. The findings will suggest projects, solutions, and investment strategies that may qualify for statewide funding programs such as Smart Scale, Revenue Sharing, and the Virginia Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP), along with regional and local funding sources.
