The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is requesting public feedback on current travel conditions along Route 30 in King William County and the Town of West Point. This initiative is part of a transportation study aimed at assessing potential safety and operational improvements.
The study falls under the Strategically Targeted Affordable Roadway Solutions (STARS) program and will focus on the corridor from Mount Olive Cohoke Road to Route 33. The primary goals are to identify safety, congestion, access management, and bicycle/pedestrian accommodation needs.
VDOT is working in collaboration with King William County and the Town of West Point on this project. Public comments will assist in determining which areas within the study should be considered for potential improvements. An online survey is available for comment submission at https://publicinput.com/route30study, open until April 10, 2025.
VDOT planners and engineers are connecting with local planners and stakeholders through the STARS program to tackle safety and traffic congestion challenges at vital spots across Virginia. Draft recommendations for the improvements along Route 30 will be revealed to the public by summer 2025, and the community will have another opportunity to provide feedback before the finalization of the plan.
The study does not establish construction timelines but aims to develop proposed improvements for localities to eventually secure funding.
