The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on April 23 that it will hold a public hearing on April 30 to present information and gather feedback regarding the Environmental Assessment for the proposed Germanna Point Drive Extension project in Spotsylvania County.

The hearing is intended to inform residents and stakeholders about the project’s potential effects and provide opportunities for public input. The Environmental Assessment examines how connecting Germanna Point Drive with Spotsylvania Avenue could impact environmental, cultural, and community resources within the study area.

The meeting will take place from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Germanna Community College’s Workforce and Technology Center, located at 10000 Germanna Point Drive in Fredericksburg. Attendees can review displays, access informational materials, and discuss questions directly with project representatives during an open-house format session. Public hearing materials are also available online through the project website, where individuals can submit comments or complete a survey.

Members of the public may share their input by filling out a survey or comment form, speaking or submitting written comments at the event, emailing fred.comments@vdot.virginia.gov, or mailing correspondence to VDOT Project Manager Jessica Graves at VDOT’s Fredericksburg office. Comments received by May 15 will be included in the official record for this phase of public involvement.

According to the official website, Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) focuses on building, maintaining, and operating roads, bridges, and tunnels across Virginia as part of its mission to support safe and efficient transportation systems.
