The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on April 23 that it will hold a public hearing on April 30 to discuss the Environmental Assessment for the proposed Germanna Point Drive Extension project in Spotsylvania County.

The event aims to inform residents and gather feedback about potential transportation improvements in the area, which could affect environmental, cultural, and community resources. The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. at Germanna Community College’s Workforce and Technology Center at 10000 Germanna Point Drive in Fredericksburg.

According to VDOT, the Environmental Assessment was conducted with input from Spotsylvania County, the Federal Highway Administration, and other agencies as required by federal law. The assessment focuses on evaluating possible connections between Germanna Point Drive and Spotsylvania Avenue.

Attendees can review materials, ask questions of project representatives, and provide comments during the open-house format meeting. Comments may also be submitted online through a survey or sent by email or mail until May 15 to be included in the public record for this process. Proposed design plans are not yet available; more meetings are planned as the project moves forward.
