The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is preparing for the upcoming holiday weekend by suspending many highway work zones and lifting temporary lane closures on interstates and other major roads across Virginia. This suspension will be in effect from noon on Thursday, July 3, until noon on Monday, July 7.

Throughout the Culpeper District, VDOT crews will continue various maintenance activities. These include bridge and guardrail maintenance, cutting brush, trees, and limbs, repairing potholes and surfaces, shoulder repairs, surface treatment and paving operations, fulfilling work orders, mowing, boom axing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

For those traveling over the weekend or needing real-time traffic updates, live traffic information can be accessed through 511 Virginia. Additionally, there is a free VDOT 511 Virginia Traffic app available for mobile devices. Drivers have the option to sign up for personalized traffic alerts and view traffic cameras at 511 Virginia.

VDOT encourages drivers to stay connected with their Culpeper District updates by following them on X at VDOT Culpeper (@VaDOTCULP) or joining their Facebook group at VDOT Culpeper District | Facebook.

Additional resources such as the Paving Status Map are also available for those interested in more detailed roadwork information.
