Maintenance activities include daytime and nighttime bridge deck repairs, roadway sweeping, brush removal operations, slope work near Bristol’s exit ramp, and the movement of super loads through the area.
Numerous primary highways and secondary roads are also affected by ongoing or upcoming projects. These include bridge replacements on Route 608 in Bland County; culvert replacement on Route 1003 in Buchanan County; roundabout construction at intersections such as Route 83/637 in Dickenson County; safety improvements along Route 19 in Russell County; intersection upgrades in Scott County; detours related to bridge replacements over Cove Creek in Tazewell County; a new connector road project near Progress Park industrial site in Wytheville; line striping activities; waterline relocations causing temporary outages; periodic lane closures for sight distance enhancements; and several other infrastructure works scheduled through late April or beyond.
