The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has released its weekly traffic alert for the Culpeper District, covering scheduled construction and maintenance activities from February 23 to 27, 2026. The schedule outlines when work is planned but does not guarantee completion by those dates, as all activities are subject to weather conditions.

District-wide efforts will include bridge and guardrail maintenance, brush and tree removal, pothole repairs, surface and shoulder repairs, paving operations, mowing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

Motorists can access live traffic updates and roadwork information through the 511 Virginia service or by downloading the VDOT 511 Virginia Traffic app for mobile devices. Personalized traffic alerts and traffic camera views are also available via the 511 Virginia platform. VDOT encourages drivers to follow the Culpeper District on social media platforms such as X (@VaDOTCULP) and Facebook for additional updates.

For more details about major projects in the district or to check paving status maps and other resources, residents can visit the Culpeper District’s major projects page.

According to the official website of the Virginia Department of Transportation, the agency is responsible for building, maintaining, and operating roads, bridges, and tunnels across Virginia to ensure a safe and efficient transportation system. VDOT manages one of the largest state highway systems in the country with tens of thousands of lane-miles statewide. Its services include highway maintenance, traffic management through tools like Virginia 511, oversight of land-use permits along state routes, as well as planning and construction oversight for transportation infrastructure. The department originated from the State Highway Commission established in 1906 and has evolved over time to meet growing infrastructure needs. VDOT’s headquarters is located at 1221 East Broad Street in Richmond.
