William & Mary gymnasts Luke Tully and Nicholas Kosarikov advanced to the finals at the Men’s Gymnastics NCAA Championships, following strong performances during the qualifying round on April 17 in Champaign, Illinois.
Their advancement means both athletes will compete for All-America honors in Saturday’s finals. The event is significant as it places William & Mary among top collegiate programs with individual athletes contending for national recognition.
Tully achieved the highest all-around score of the opening session with a total of 76.731. He also placed fifth on high bar with a score of 13.433 and finished twelfth on floor exercise with a score of 13.233. Kosarikov qualified for the finals by finishing seventh on parallel bars, earning a score of 13.233.
The NCAA Championship finals are scheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m. Central Time, where the top eight competitors in each event and all-around will receive All-America distinction. The championship will be broadcast live on ESPN2, and live scores can be accessed through FightingIllini.com.
Other William & Mary gymnasts also competed strongly during Friday’s qualifying session. Niko Greenly (floor: 13.33) and Ricky Pizem (high bar: 13.1) earned first alternate spots for their respective events in the finals, while Greenly also placed twenty-fourth on parallel bars (12.433) and twenty-eighth on vault (12). Pizem finished twenty-second on vault (13.233). Gavin Zborowski competed in multiple events, including seventeenth place on rings (12.566) and twenty-first place on pommel horse (12.833). Michael Weiner took sixteenth place on floor (13.066), Evan Wilkins was seventeenth on high bar (12.833), and Jonathan Irwin finished twenty-fourth on rings (12.166).
