The Fredericksburg District has announced a series of traffic alerts for the upcoming week, covering June 29 to July 5, 2025. These alerts include roadworks and maintenance activities across various counties, which may affect travel plans for motorists in the area.
On Interstate 95 Northbound, there will be alternating lane closures from Exit 110 (Ladysmith) to Exit 118 (Thornburg) due to bridge maintenance at the Matta River and pavement work. The northbound off-ramp at Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) will also face closures for milling and paving.
For Interstate 95 Southbound, a single lane on the recently widened off-ramp to Route 1 southbound will remain closed until early July in Spotsylvania County. This closure is necessary for paving corrections.
In Caroline County, alternating lane closures are scheduled on Route 1 Northbound and Southbound for pavement marking and rumble strip placement. Secondary roads such as Route 601 (Edgar Road) and others will undergo resurfacing with one-way traffic directed by flaggers.
Fredericksburg City’s Fall Hill Avenue will experience alternating lane closures between Route 1 and Bridgewater Street due to ongoing works. Essex County’s Route 360 near King and Queen county line will see mobile operations for line striping.
In Gloucester County, several routes including Route 17 Northbound/Southbound and Main Street are scheduled for repairs such as bridge repairs and guardrail repair. Middlesex County’s Route 33 is set for mobile lane closures due to pavement marking work.
Additional projects are underway across various counties including bridge replacements in Caroline County on Route 638 (South River Road), intersection improvements in Fredericksburg City, safety enhancements in Gloucester County at the intersection of Route 17 and Woods Cross Road, among others.
Motorists should anticipate potential delays or detours throughout these regions during this period as crews conduct essential maintenance and construction work aimed at improving road safety and infrastructure quality.
