Highway work in Lynchburg, Virginia is scheduled for the week of April 21-27, 2025. Halifax County’s Route 615 (Dudley Road) bridge replacement is ongoing, closing the route to through traffic. A detour is available, and completion is expected by April 25, 2025.
In Lynchburg, bridge maintenance on Route 501 (Campbell Avenue) over the Route 29/460 Bypass is reducing traffic to one lane with the left lane closed for northbound traffic. This work began the week of April 14, 2025, and is projected to complete by the end of April. Further, Route 128 (Candlers Mountain Road) will see bridge rehabilitation starting May 18, 2025, with lane closures anticipated until July 1, 2025.
Nelson County faces a bridge replacement on Route 653 (Wilson Road) over the Norfolk Southern Railroad. The bridge is closed, and it’s expected to reopen by November 2025.
Pittsylvania County’s Route 311 (Harville-Saunders Parkway) has opened to traffic, but new road construction continues off the roadway. Occasional shoulder and lane closures may occur, with overall project completion set for June 16, 2025.
