Highway maintenance and construction activities are set to take place in the Lynchburg district from April 28 to May 4, 2025. Weather conditions or other factors might cause delays or cancellations. Throughout the district, crews will engage in bridge and guardrail maintenance, tree and brush cutting, pavement repairs, and other related tasks.
Specific roadwork includes bridge rehabilitation on Route 673 in Cumberland County, leading to a closure between Guinea Road and River Road until mid-May 2025. Halifax County’s Route 615 is closed for bridge replacement, with a detour in place and completion anticipated by May 1, 2025.
In Lynchburg, the rehabilitation of the Route 128 bridge over the Norfolk Southern Railroad will start on May 18, with alternating lane closures likely until the expected completion on July 1, 2025.
Nelson County’s Route 653 bridge is closed, with reopening targeted for November 2025. Meanwhile, in Pittsylvania County, the new road construction on Route 311 is open, though additional work may cause shoulder and lane closures, with overall completion slated for June 16, 2025.
District-wide activities are expected to occur in Amherst County, Appomattox County, Buckingham County, Campbell County, Charlotte County, and others, including ongoing routine maintenance and repairs.
