Talon Dingledine remains in top 10 after second day of CAA Championships

William & Mary men’s golf freshman Talon Dingledine remained in the top 10 at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championships after moving up a spot on Apr. 27, following the second round at the Cotton Dike Course at Dataw Island Club.

The event is significant for William & Mary as they compete against other teams in the conference, with their standing impacting both individual and team recognition within collegiate golf.

The Tribe shot a team score of 299 (+11) for the day and are tied for seventh place with Drexel, both holding a total score of 586 (+10). UNCW leads the championship at 558 (-18), seven shots ahead of Campbell. UNCW’s James Rico continues to lead individually with an eight-under-par total of 134.

Dingledine recorded an even-par round of 72, including two birdies on holes seven and twelve, along with fourteen pars. He is currently tied for eighth place overall at three-under-par (141), trailing the leader by five strokes. Freshman Eli Felty posted a one-over-par round of 73 and is tied for thirty-second place at four-over (148). Junior Preston Burton, graduate student Matthew Monastero, and sophomore Grady Williams each carded rounds of five-over-par (77). Burton stands tied for twenty-eighth overall through two rounds; Monastero sits in thirty-sixth place; Williams is thirty-ninth but led his teammates with five birdies during Monday’s play.

William & Mary will begin their final round on Tuesday morning at nine o’clock alongside Drexel. Both teams are tied for seventh position after thirty-six holes.
