Crews from the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Warrenton bridge team have completed repairs on the bridge over Rock Run on Route 651 (Sumerduck Road) in Fauquier County. The project was finished two days ahead of schedule.
The bridge, which dates back to 1933, now has a new superstructure and a widened riding deck. The total width is now 22 feet. It is located approximately one mile west of U.S. 17 (Marsh Road).
During construction, a detour was in place but has since been removed, and the road is open to all traffic. The rehabilitated bridge can support all legal loads.
Recent data indicates that about 1,300 vehicles travel this route daily.
