All lanes of Interstate 81 in Augusta County are currently closed following a tractor-trailer crash near mile marker 210.7. The incident occurred around 10 a.m. on Monday, and the highway is expected to remain shut through the afternoon due to hazardous material and crash cleanup operations.

Traffic has been redirected with northbound drivers exiting at exit 205 (Raphine/Steeles Tavern) near the Augusta-Rockbridge county line. They will follow Route 606 east and Route 11 north to rejoin I-81 at exit 213. Southbound drivers will detour at exit 213 (Greenville/Stuarts Draft), taking Route 11 south and Route 606 west to return to the interstate at exit 205.

Significant delays are anticipated on I-81 and Route 11 in southern Augusta County and northern Rockbridge County, prompting authorities to advise avoiding the area if possible.
