The Black Oak Road bridge in Purcellville will close indefinitely starting at 8 a.m. on January 31, as announced by the Virginia Department of Transportation. The closure follows the latest safety inspection results.

Access to properties along Black Oak Road will remain available, but traffic will not be able to pass the bridge in either direction. Through traffic will be redirected via a detour using Snickersville Turnpike, Colchester Road, Silcott Springs Road, and Otley Road back to Black Oak Road.

Constructed in 1970, the bridge has an eight-ton weight limit and is set for replacement this summer.
