DESIGNS REVEALED FOR THREE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS

DESIGNS REVEALED FOR THREE NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS

Danville Parks and Recreation is excited to display three new neighborhood park designs on their website this week. These renderings of parks are a big step toward implementing improvements as part of a city-wide focus on enhancing community spaces and meeting needs identified by residents.  Over the last year, community members around the Doyle Thomas Park, Pumpkin Creek Park, and Coates Park areas have convened to discuss and decide upon needed changes to their parks. This week, the department will be following up with residents about their proposed park improvements. Sharing Park renderings, cost estimates, and next steps in the implementation processes are the main motives of the upcoming meetings. Danville Parks and Recreation will also discuss areas of the park where communities are still deciding how to further represent their history and culture in various parts of the park design.  “We are excited about this process and the designs that are coming out of it. Community members have put a lot of time and thought into their parks, and we certainly appreciate their involvement. We look forward to addressing all our neighborhood parks through this process. I urge anyone who wants more information on this process to visit playdanvilleva.com to find all of our park planning information,” says Bill Sgrinia, Director of Parks and Recreation. All are welcome to join. Meetings for 2022 parks will be wrapping up one week before 2023 parks kick off their resident design process.  Doyle Thomas Park will be meeting on Tuesday, January 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the PEACE Center.  The Coates Park meeting is Thursday, January 12 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Coates Recreation Center.  The Pumpkin Creek Park meeting is Friday, January 6 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Southside Learning and Community Center.  Resident-planning for Camilla Williams Park, Camp Grove Park, and Cedar Brook Parks begin on January 18.  For more information, visit bit.ly/danvilleparkplan or contact Dr. Stephanie Lovely at stephanie.lovely@danvilleva.gov or (434) 799-5200.
