Colonial Athletic Association issued the following announcement on Oct. 8

James Madison women’s golfer Carly Lyvers and UNCW cross country/track & field runner Zeke Shore have been selected as the Colonial Athletic Association’s participants in the NCAA Student-Athlete Leadership Forum, to be held November 18-21 in Houston.

Lyvers is a public relations major who contributed to the Dukes’ 2021 CAA Championship with an 11th-place result. The South Carolina native is a member of the Dukes LEAD Leadership Academy, Faculty Athletic Advisory Committee, SAAC Executive Board, Public Relations Student Society of America, and Lambda Pi Eta, in addition to working in JMU’s athletic communications office and as a student-athlete tutor.

Shore is an exercise science major who has represented the Seahawks in CAA cross country and track & field championships over the last three years. The Raleigh native is a three-time CAA Commissioner’s Honor Roll recipient for both teams and volunteered at U.S. Olympic trials this summer. Shore’s volunteer work extends to Habitat for Humanity, Ronald McDonald House, and for a local church in assisting the area’s homeless population.

Two student-athletes from each Division I conference are chosen to attend the event of student-athletes and administrators. Participants are assigned to a team that will engage in discussions on leadership and its components, gain insight from diverse perspectives, learn about the workings of the NCAA, hear from resonant keynote speakers, and take part in a community service project.
