56

Central Virginia Community College issued the following announcement on July 21

Virginia Western Community College announces it will operate at full classroom capacity for Fall Semester, which begins on Aug. 23, 2021. There have never been more opportunities to attend Virginia Western through a variety of funding resources. Students may enroll now online at www.virginiawestern.edu.

By operating at full classroom capacity, more students can enroll in the hands-on classes and training they need to continue their education or get ahead in a strong career. To find the classes you need, visit the up-to-date class schedules at: https://www.virginiawestern.edu/classes/. If there is not a seat available in the class you need, please try again as capacities are being increased.

“We pride ourselves on providing the high-quality, in-person training that our students require to build their skills and knowledge in pursuit of their goals. By opening up more classroom capacity, we can better serve our students and our community,” said Dr. Robert H. Sandel, President of Virginia Western. “We will use a layered approach as we continue to strive to protect the health and safety of all our students and employees.”

The college’s in-person classes adhere to guidelines from the Governor’s Office, the Virginia Department of Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In addition, the college will also provide a mixture of online and remote learning formats along with online advising services for students who do not choose to attend on campus.

Gov. Ralph Northam signed legislation for his G3 initiative, providing $36 million in community college tuition funding to an estimated 36,000 low and middle-income students pursuing jobs in high-demand fields.

G3 is just one option for attending college free in the fall. Interested students can read about G3 and other funding initiatives and find out if they qualify by visiting: www.virginiawestern.edu/freecollege. Some funding initiatives are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis when available, so students should apply today!

In addition to courses in Virginia Western’s academic calendar, the School of Career and Corporate Training (CCT) provides state-of-the-art training and retraining resources with short-term training and credentialing programs, many of which have additional funding opportunities. To find out more about CCT courses, visit: https://www.virginiawestern.edu/cct.
