Newport News home prices fall in the first half of 2017

The median sale price of a home sold in the first half of 2017 in Newport News fell by $7,700 while total sales increased by 41.1%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From January through June of 2017, there were 803 homes sold, with a median sale price of $162,400 - a 4.5% decrease over the $170,100 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 569 homes sold in Newport News in the first half of 2016.

The median sales tax in Newport News for the most recent year with available data, 2015, was $3,024, approximately 1.9% of the median home sale price for the first half of 2017.
