Stafford County officials announced on April 15 that residents are invited to participate in a public survey open from April 15 through April 27, as part of the process to update the county’s Comprehensive Plan.
The feedback collected will help guide decisions about growth, development, housing, transportation, schools, and infrastructure for the next two decades. The county said the Comprehensive Plan is reviewed at least once every five years under Virginia law and is a key document for shaping Stafford’s future.
According to Stafford County Public Schools District data, there were 31,700 students enrolled during the 2023-24 school year according to the Virginia Department of Education. Among these schools, Brooke Point High School had the highest enrollment with 2,242 students during that same period according to state records. White students made up the largest ethnic group in Stafford County schools at nearly 39 percent of enrollment (12,332 students), followed by Hispanic students who accounted for about a quarter of all students (7,780) according to official statistics.
Total student enrollment increased by 1.7 percent compared with the previous year’s total of 31,160 as reported by state data. At the pre-kindergarten level, Rising Star Early Childhood Education Center at Melchers welcomed more than half (54.5 percent) of all pre-kindergarteners in Stafford County—292 children in total—during this period according to education reports. Rocky Run Elementary School had the largest number of kindergarteners enrolled among county schools with 148 children or roughly seven percent of all kindergarteners in Stafford based on state figures.
Residents can access and complete the survey online during its open period and find more information about timelines and project details at https://polco.us/sgyyw3.
