Liberty University’s women’s lacrosse team announced on Apr. 27 that attacker Sophia Nesci was unanimously selected as the 2026 Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year, with six players earning postseason recognition.

The announcement highlights Liberty’s strong performance in the conference, with several athletes recognized for their contributions during the season. These honors reflect both individual achievements and the team’s competitiveness in ASUN play.

Midfielder Katie Colavito and defender Madeleine Klunder were named to the All-ASUN first team. Defender Jenna Burrow and attacker Ava Rajala earned spots on the second team, while Nicole Arriola joined Nesci on the All-Freshman team. Colavito was chosen for her third consecutive ASUN All-Conference selection and is also noted as a preseason Midfielder of the Year. Burrow and Klunder each received their second career All-Conference selections.

Nesci is Liberty’s first Freshman of the Year since Mackenzie Lehman won in 2021, joining previous honorees Carly White (2017) and Kayla Foster (2016). She finished second on her team with 56 points, including 36 goals and 20 assists, ranking among conference leaders in these categories. Nesci scored a goal in all but three games this season and was named ASUN Player of the Week on March 23.

Liberty will enter postseason play as No. 3 seed (7-10 overall, 5-3 ASUN), facing No. 6 seed Kennesaw State (8-9 overall, 3-5 ASUN) at Rock Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.
