Victoria Manning of Restoration News Media said that Gov. Spanberger is pursuing policies that may threaten the rights and values of Virginians following the conclusion of Virginia’s 2026 legislative session.

Virginia’s General Assembly considered more than 1,100 bills during the 2026 session, with Democrat-controlled chambers advancing measures on firearms regulation, education policy, and family law issues. The session concluded with final action by Gov. Spanberger before a reconvene period, according to the Legislative Information System.

“The Democrat-controlled legislature sent 1,082 bills to the governor’s desk to sign. She only vetoed five bills, amended 111 (which will return to the legislature for consideration), and allowed the rest to become law. Spanberger campaigned as a moderate. But now, only three months into her governorship, her mask and gloves are off. She hid her true agenda and is now actively pursuing policies that threaten the rights and values of Virginians. One of the key responsibilities of the General Assembly is to approve a budget. Yet despite holding full control, the Democrats haven’t passed a spending bill,” Manning said in an analysis published in Restoration News. The commentary was issued as part of coverage of state executive and legislative outcomes in Richmond.

According to a report by WDBJ7, Virginia maintained $10 billion in surplus revenue during four years under former Gov. Youngkin, supporting $9 billion in tax relief . However, the state now faces a projected $500 million deficit following the 2026 legislative session, as Sen. Deeds told WVIR 29News

Manning served on the Virginia Beach City Public Schools board from 2017 to 2024 and authored ‘Behind the Wall of Government Schools’. She serves as vice president of Students First VA and holds a master’s degree in law from Regent University, according to Ballotpedia.
