The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on March 20 that a section of Old Fincastle Road (Route 655) in Botetourt County will be closed daily from Monday, March 30, for approximately two weeks due to a culvert pipe replacement. The closure will occur between Peck Lane and West Wind Road, just south of 1445 Old Fincastle Road, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Residents will still have access to their homes on either side of the closure.
This temporary closure is expected to impact local traffic and morning commutes. Drivers needing access to Route 220 (Botetourt Road) are advised to use a detour via Old Fincastle Road, West Wind Road, and Mary Alice Road before reaching Route 220. The road will reopen each weekday at 5 p.m. and remain open during weekends. Work is scheduled for completion by April 10, weather permitting.
