The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a planned closure of Route 643 (Rural Point Road) in Hanover due to widening and asphalt work. The closure will occur between Route 301 (Chamberlayne Road) and Route 606 (Studley Road), starting from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m., beginning on April 21 through April 25, and resuming again from April 27 through May 1, weather permitting.

During this period, homeowners in the area will still have access to their properties. However, motorists will need to follow a designated detour. For eastbound traffic, travel south on Route 301 (Chamberlayne Road), then east on Route 640 (Shady Groove Road), and proceed north on Route 606 (Studley Road). Westbound traffic should proceed south on Route 606 (Studley Road), then west on Route 640 (Shady Groove Road), and continue north on Route 301 (Chamberlayne Road).

VDOT advises that anyone with questions regarding the project can contact their customer service at 800-FOR-ROAD (800-367-7623). Updated traffic information can be accessed via 511Virginia at 511.vdot.virginia.gov or through the 511Virginia app on mobile devices.
