The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on Mar. 17 that a section of Route 647 (Harts Mill Road) in Louisa County will be closed starting Monday, March 30, for bridge rehabilitation over Campbells Creek.
The closure is expected to last through May 8, weather permitting, and aims to allow crews to complete the necessary repairs so the structure can safely carry legal loads. The affected area is about 0.7 mile north of Route 640 (East Old Mountain Road). Message boards were placed along Route 647 on March 16 to inform motorists about the upcoming closure.
To help drivers navigate around the work zone, a detour has been established: motorists traveling from Route 640 should use Route 522 (Cross County Road) and then return to Harts Mill Road after traveling north for approximately 2.6 miles. Those heading west should follow the detour in reverse. Drivers are advised to use caution near the construction area and follow posted signs, as all work depends on weather conditions.
