The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced the closure of a section of Route 733, also known as M T Hayes Road, in Mecklenburg County for a pipe replacement project. The closure is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, May 12, and continue until 4 p.m. on Friday, May 16.

According to VDOT, homeowners will retain access to their properties during the project.

Motorists are advised to follow the designated detour routes:

For eastbound traffic: Proceed west on Route 733 (M T Hays Road), turn left onto Route 735 (White House Road), then turn left onto Route 49 (Highway Forty-Nine). Continue by turning left onto Route 734 (Cherry Hill Church Road) and finally make another left back onto Route 733 (M T Hayes Road).

For westbound traffic: Travel east on Route 733 (M T Hayes Road), take a right onto Route 734 (Cherry Hill Church Road), followed by a right turn onto Route 49 (Highway Forty-Nine). Then, make a right turn onto Route 735 (White House Road) and complete the loop with another right back onto Route 733 (M T Hays Road).
