Beginning June 23, a section of Route 714 (Horseshoe Farm Road) in Louisa County will be closed to through traffic for bridge rehabilitation. The structure is located about one mile from Route 604 (Roundabout Road) and 1.4 miles from Route 208 (Courthouse Road).

During the project, through traffic will follow a signed detour via Routes 208, 646, and 604. Local traffic will still have access to driveway entrances on either side of the closure. Message boards were installed on June 9 to inform drivers.

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s Louisa bridge crew will replace the steel beam timber deck with a concrete box culvert. The current bridge, which is posted at 24 tons and measures 13.7 feet wide, will be upgraded to support all legal loads with an increased width of 21 feet.

The work is scheduled for completion by August 30, weather permitting.
