The closure of Route 714 (Horseshoe Farm Road) in Louisa County has been extended as the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) continues bridge rehabilitation work. The road, which was closed to through traffic on June 23, is now expected to remain closed until Thursday, September 18, depending on weather conditions.

A signed detour remains in place for through traffic using Routes 208, 646, and 604. Local residents will still have access to driveways or entrances on either side of the closure.

VDOT’s Louisa bridge crew is replacing the steel beam timber deck and installing a concrete box culvert. The current bridge is posted at a weight limit of 24 tons and is 13.7 feet wide. After construction, the new structure will support all legal loads and have an increased width of 21 feet.

“Local updates about conditions in VDOT’s Culpeper District are posted to X.com/VaDOTCulp and the Culpeper District Facebook page.”

“Current traffic conditions, VDOT’s statewide network of traffic cameras, and other travel information are available on the 511Virginia website, the free VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 from any phone in Virginia.”
