A section of Route 656 (Offliter Road) in the Stuarts Draft area of Augusta County will be closed to through traffic starting at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, June 3, until the evening of Friday, June 6. This closure is necessary for maintenance work on the railroad crossing located between Route 608 (Cold Springs Road) and Route 657 (Indian Ridge Road).
Residents and business patrons can still reach their destinations by approaching from either side of the crossing. Through traffic is advised to follow a posted detour route. For those north of the rail crossing, drivers should take Route 657 north, then proceed on Route 340 (Stuarts Draft Highway) north, followed by Route 608 (Draft Avenue/Cold Springs Road) south to reconnect with Route 656. Southbound drivers should follow Route 608 north, continue on Route 340 south, and then take Route 657 south back to Route 656.
All scheduled work is subject to weather conditions.
