A section of Route 608 in Augusta County will be closed to through traffic for approximately 48 hours starting Wednesday morning, May 21. The closure is necessary for railroad crossing maintenance between Route 639 (Wayne Avenue) and Route 1511 (Flory Avenue).
Motorists can still access homes and businesses on either side of the railway by approaching from the appropriate side of the crossing. Through traffic will follow a posted detour route.
Northbound drivers are advised to take Route 608 south, then proceed west on Route 656, continue straight onto Route 657, and finally turn north on Route 340 to return to Route 608 at the end of the detour. Southbound drivers should take Route 608 north, head south on Route 340, proceed east on Route 657, continue straight onto Route 656, and then turn north on Route 608 to complete the detour.
The road is expected to reopen Friday morning, May 23, weather permitting.
