Beginning December 1, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will close Route 607 (Lillards Ford Road) in Madison County to replace a culvert pipe. The closure will occur about 0.7 miles north of Route 634 (Oak Park Road), with all through traffic prohibited during the construction.

Message boards have been installed to alert drivers of the upcoming closure. A signed detour will direct northbound vehicles on Route 607 to travel east on Route 634 (Oak Park Road), then left onto Route 632 (Beahm Town Road), left again on Route 630 (Thoroughfare Road), and continue straight onto Route 629 (Spring Branch Road) before reconnecting with Route 607. Southbound traffic will follow this route in reverse. Local access to driveway entrances along Route 607 will remain available.

The work is expected to be finished by Friday, December 5, depending on weather conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to plan for additional travel time, exercise caution near the work zone, and follow posted detour signs.

VDOT provides local updates for the Culpeper District on its X account and Facebook group page. Statewide traffic information, including live camera feeds and other travel resources, can be accessed through the 511 Virginia website, the VDOT 511 mobile app, or by calling 511 within Virginia.
