Beginning December 1, a new traffic pattern will be implemented on Route 58 over Lovers Leap Mountain in Patrick County, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The change is part of an ongoing road widening project in the area.

Traffic on Route 58 will be redirected onto a newly constructed section of roadway. The shift begins 1.7 miles east of Route 610 (Cloudbreak Road) and extends to 1.5 miles west of Route 640 (Central Academy Road). Vehicles will travel on this new stretch for about 1.5 miles before returning to the existing alignment of Route 58.

For approximately two weeks, flaggers will manage a half-mile portion of the new road to help direct vehicles through the work zone.

Motorists are advised to pay close attention to posted signs and electronic message boards alerting them to these changes.
