The Virginia Department of Transportation announced on April 13 that a section of Route 55 (John Marshall Highway) in Fauquier County will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, April 14, for pipe installation. The closure will take place near the intersection with Route 698 (O’Bannon Road) from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The temporary road closure is expected to impact local traffic and commuters who use this route. The department said detours will be in place: eastbound drivers will be rerouted to Route 245 (Old Tavern Road) and Interstate 66, while westbound drivers should follow Blantyre Road to Route 17 (James Memorial Highway). Signs are set up along the detour routes to guide motorists.
VDOT advises all drivers traveling through the area to exercise caution and follow posted detour signs during the closure period. Updates about conditions in VDOT’s Culpeper District are available on their X.com/VaDOTCulp account and the Culpeper District Facebook page.
