Route 3 was closed in both directions on the Robert O. Norris Bridge over the Rappahannock River due to a multi-vehicle crash, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation. The bridge connects Lancaster and Middlesex counties.

The department advised travelers to find alternate routes or delay their trips while crews responded to the incident.

At 8:57 p.m., officials reported that all lanes were open and the scene had been cleared.
