Route 1 in Spotsylvania County was temporarily closed following a vehicle crash at the intersection with Spotsylvania Parkway, located just south of the I-95 exit 126 interchange. According to the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), both northbound and southbound lanes were initially shut down to manage the incident.

Travelers were advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes, including Interstate 95 for north-south travel. At one point, delays extended for about one mile. VDOT crews responded on site to assist with traffic control during the closure.

At 9:05 a.m., an update indicated that a single lane on Route 1 northbound had reopened, while all southbound lanes remained closed. Southbound traffic was detoured via Southpoint Parkway and then onto Route 208 (Courthouse Road). By 9:22 a.m., all northbound and southbound lanes had reopened.

VDOT stated that updates on lane closures would be posted to 511Virginia.
