The Culpeper District of the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has announced a range of highway works and traffic alterations in the upcoming week, assuming favorable weather conditions. The alterations are expected to affect various counties including Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock.
In Albemarle County, highway improvements and utility works are scheduled, with lane closures and speed reductions during nighttime hours. Roadway sweeping, traffic engineering, and paving operations will also occur, necessitating shoulder and lane closures. “Expect lane and shoulder closures in the following areas,” notes the VDOT’s statement.
Culpeper County will see mobile mowing operations and traffic engineering projects that will result in right shoulder closures. They also expect ongoing construction along several routes. VDOT assures that local access will remain open via detours.
Fauquier County is preparing for a similar level of activity, with updates to paving operations and ongoing utility work. There will be ongoing roadway improvements and shoulder repairs on Interstate 66.
In Greene County, construction efforts will involve alternating lane closures on U.S. 29 and Route 230. There are also expectations of utility work under VDOT permits in specified areas, primarily affecting traffic on certain days.
Louisa County’s schedule includes utility work, bridge repairs, and paving, expecting to complete bridge work by December 1st. Work on U.S. 15 involves piping, ditching, and continuous construction activities.
Madison County will focus on utility work, tree removals, and paving. “Expect alternating lane closures,” the VDOT advises, reinforcing its commitment to minimizing public inconvenience while ensuring road safety and maintenance.
In Orange County, roadway improvements will require alternating lane closures in various locations daily. Utility work will continue under VDOT permits on U.S. 522.
Finally, Rappahannock County’s paving activities will begin on key roadways with lane closures affecting traffic patterns. Mowing operations are also planned on U.S. 211 on specific days.
