Roadworks scheduled across Fredericksburg District from June 8-14

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) has issued a travel alert for the Fredericksburg District covering the period from June 8 to June 14, 2025. The alert details various roadworks and construction projects that will affect traffic flow in several counties.

On Interstate 95 Northbound, there will be alternating lane closures between mile markers 121-126 and 140-142 for milling and paving operations. Similar work is scheduled between mile markers 146-147. Southbound on I-95, single lane closures are planned on the Exit 126 off-ramp to Route 1 for final construction activities.

In Caroline County, Route 1 will experience alternating lane closures from Sunday to Tuesday for milling and paving. Route 2 (Main Street) remains closed to through traffic until June 30 due to a town utility project.

Fredericksburg City will see alternating lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue and Lafayette Boulevard for various construction activities. In King George County, secondary road resurfacing is planned with flagging crews directing traffic.

Pavement marking work in King and Queen County, King William County, Mathews County, and Middlesex County will involve mobile lane closures throughout the week. Richmond County also has scheduled road resurfacing with similar traffic management measures.

In Spotsylvania County, multiple roads including Route 1 at Arcadia Road and Southpoint Parkway will undergo construction activities leading to altered traffic patterns. Stafford County’s Route 1 will have intermittent full stops for utility work under permit.

Additional projects across the district include bridge replacements in Caroline and Essex Counties, intersection improvements in Gloucester County, and ongoing construction efforts in Lancaster and Mathews Counties.
