Highway work is scheduled in Lynchburg, Virginia, and surrounding areas from February 24 to March 2, 2025. Road closures and lane restrictions may occur but could be delayed or canceled due to weather or other issues. The public is advised to call 511 or visit the Virginia Department of Transportation’s website for the latest updates.

Various maintenance activities will take place district-wide, including bridge and guardrail maintenance, brush cutting, pothole repairs, paving operations, mowing, drainage work, and roadside cleanup.

In Appomattox County, Route 613 (Spring Grove Rd.) remains closed for a bridge replacement project between Route 647 and Route 608 until mid-April 2025. In Halifax County, Route 615 (Dudley Road) is also closed for a bridge replacement with a detour in place; completion is expected by April 2025.

Nelson County’s Route 653 (Wilson Road) over the Norfolk Southern Railroad remains closed for bridge replacement until November 2025. Meanwhile, in Pittsylvania County on Route 311 (Harville-Saunders Parkway), new road construction continues with shoulder and lane closures anticipated. The overall completion date is June 16, 2025.

District-wide activities are ongoing in Amherst County, Buckingham County, Campbell County, Charlotte County, Cumberland County, Halifax County again noted for its specific closure above along with general works elsewhere in the county as well as Lynchburg itself.
