As early as May 12, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) plans to initiate short-term road closures in Historic Yorktown for repaving work. The contractor crews will implement full daytime closures on Alexander Hamilton Boulevard and part of Cornwallis Road.

Alexander Hamilton Boulevard will be closed in both directions between George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17) and Ballard Street for milling and paving. This closure is scheduled from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a signed detour directing traffic onto George Washington Memorial Highway (Route 17), Mathews Street, and Ballard Street.

Additionally, a section of Cornwallis Road between Lafayette Road and Ballard Street will also face closures for repair work starting at 5 a.m. on May 12 through 7 p.m. on May 13.

Access for local businesses and residences will be maintained during this period. However, all work is dependent on weather conditions and scheduling, so the schedule may change accordingly.
