The Richmond Spiders women’s golf team will participate in the Chapel Hill Regional of the NCAA Division I Women’s Golf Championships, according to an April 29 announcement. The regional event is scheduled for May 11-13 at Finley Golf Club and will include Richmond along with eleven other teams and six individuals.

This selection follows Richmond’s automatic bid earned by winning its second consecutive Atlantic 10 title last Wednesday. The top five teams from each of the six regional sites will move on to the NCAA Championship, which is set for May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

It marks the sixth time that Richmond has appeared as a team in the NCAA Championship. Last year, the Spiders finished eleventh at the NCAA Regional held at Birdwood Golf Course in Charlottesville, which was their best result at an NCAA Regional so far.

Other teams competing alongside Richmond include Texas, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Kent State, Virginia, Michigan State, NC State, High Point, Furman, Howard and host North Carolina.

The upcoming competition presents another opportunity for Richmond to advance further into national postseason play.
