The University of Richmond women’s basketball team announced on April 29 that Emma Schoen, a guard from Sellersburg, Indiana, has signed to join the program for the 2026-27 season. Head Coach Alisa Kresge said Schoen will be the second player to sign under her leadership, joining Alexandra Vandiver.

Schoen comes to Richmond after a successful high school career at Silver Creek High School. She scored a total of 1,243 points and set school records in three-pointers made with 222 and free throw percentage at 87 percent. As a senior, she recorded a program-best assist-to-turnover ratio of 4.1 and continued to break records with single-season marks in three-pointers made (72) and free throw percentage (91 percent).

“Emma is highly skilled combo guard with an outstanding work ethic,” Kresge said. “Her ability to shoot the ball along with her high basketball IQ elevates the play of those around her and brings great value on the court.”

During her time at Silver Creek, Schoen was recognized as a two-time Indiana Basketball Coaches Association Large School First Team All-State selection and earned multiple other honors including ICGSA Second Team All-State recognition in consecutive seasons. She was also named three times each to both the All-Mid-Southern Conference team and Courier Journal All-Area team.

Nationally, Schoen was nominated as a McDonald’s All-American and participated in notable events such as the Hoosier Basketball Magazine Top 60 workout and IBCA Top 100 Showcase. She helped lead Silver Creek High School to three straight Mid-Southern Conference championships.

Schoen is known for her shooting range, defensive skills, and playmaking abilities. She played AAU basketball for WV Thunder where she competed against top national talent.
