The Richmond Spiders men’s golf team will compete in the Wake Forest Regional of the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championships from May 18 to May 20, according to a May 6 announcement. The event will take place at Bermuda Run Country Club and features Richmond among 13 other teams and five individuals.
This participation follows Richmond’s automatic qualification after winning its first Atlantic 10 title since 2017 last Wednesday. The top five teams from each of the six regional sites will move on to the NCAA Championship, which is scheduled for May 29 through June 3 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.
It marks Richmond’s sixth appearance as a team in the NCAA Championship. In their most recent showing, the Spiders finished eleventh at the West Lafayette, Indiana Regional in 2017.
The list of teams competing alongside Richmond includes Virginia (Atlantic Coast Conference), Ole Miss (Southeastern Conference), Pepperdine (West Coast Conference), Georgia Tech, Southern California, Wake Forest, Mississippi State, Little Rock (Ohio Valley Conference), NC State, Kentucky, Houston, Navy (Patriot League), and Presbyterian (Big South Conference).
Looking ahead, if Richmond finishes among the top five teams at Bermuda Run Country Club during regionals, they will advance to compete for a national title later this month.
