Andrew Ball, a 6-foot-9 forward from Marlton, New Jersey, will join the Richmond Spiders men’s basketball team for the upcoming season, according to an April 22 announcement. Ball is transferring from Monmouth University and will be eligible to play immediately.

Ball is set to graduate with a business administration degree from Monmouth this spring after spending four years with the Hawks and using three seasons of eligibility. He plans to pursue a graduate degree at the University of Richmond next school year.

During his most recent season at Monmouth, Ball averaged career highs of 7.9 points and 3.9 rebounds per game while appearing in 34 games and starting nine times. He contributed to the Hawks’ overall record of 19-15 and their appearance in the Colonial Athletic Association Championship game against Hofstra. One highlight included scoring a career-high 19 points on perfect shooting at Hampton on January 22, making all seven field goal attempts including five three-pointers.

Ball shot an efficient 50.5 percent from the field last season, ranking second on his team, and was also second among all CAA players in two-point field goal percentage (63.1 percent) among those with at least 200 attempts. In previous seasons with Monmouth, he averaged fewer minutes but continued contributing as both a scorer and rebounder before receiving a medical redshirt in the 2023-24 campaign.

A graduate of Shawnee High School where he earned All-Conference and All-County honors, Ball becomes the fourth member of Richmond’s incoming transfer class for next season alongside Jamie Kaiser Jr., Amon Dörries, and Jack McCaffery.
