Amon Dörries, a 6-foot-11 center from Potsdam, Germany, will join the Richmond Spiders men’s basketball team for the upcoming season, according to an April 15 announcement.

Dörries transfers to Richmond after a record-setting freshman year at Bucknell. He scored more points than any freshman in Bucknell history and was named to both the Second Team All-Patriot League and the Patriot League All-Rookie Team during the 2025-26 season. His average of 16.2 points per game led his team and ranked fifth in the Patriot League, making him the nation’s 23rd highest scoring freshman last season.

Dörries became only the third freshman ever to lead Bucknell in scoring and was the first since the late 1970s. His total of 534 points surpassed all previous first-year players at Bucknell by a margin of 67 points. He also made field goals at a rate of 54 percent, which placed him fifth among qualifying players in his conference. On January 31, he scored a personal best of 36 points against Boston University—the most ever by a Bucknell freshman in one game.

At season’s end, Dörries was recognized as Bucknell’s sole representative on an All-Patriot League Team with his Second Team selection. He also became their first player chosen for the league’s All-Rookie Team since 2015.

In addition to his college achievements, Dörries has played internationally for Germany’s national team at events such as the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup and spent time with ALBA Berlin in Germany’s top professional league during both the 2023-24 and 2024-25 seasons.

He is now set to become Richmond’s second transfer recruit this year alongside Butler guard Jamie Kaiser Jr., further strengthening their roster ahead of next season.
