A schedule of road construction projects that may lead to delays in the Richmond District from December 20 to 26, 2025, has been released. The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) is providing this weekly update for drivers in the area.

For those seeking the latest updates on traffic and road work, VDOT recommends using 511Virginia at 511.vdot.virginia.gov or downloading the free 511Virginia mobile app. Drivers can also sign up for personalized alerts and view traffic cameras through this service.

The public can follow VDOT Richmond District on X at @VaDOTRVA for additional information.

According to its official website, VDOT is responsible for building, maintaining, and operating Virginia’s roads, bridges, and tunnels to support a safe and efficient transportation system. The agency manages one of the nation’s largest state highway systems, covering tens of thousands of lane-miles across Virginia. Services provided by VDOT include highway maintenance, traffic management through systems like Virginia 511, and oversight of land-use permits along state routes.

VDOT serves as a state agency overseeing planning, construction, and maintenance of transportation infrastructure throughout Virginia. The department originated from the State Highway Commission established in 1906 and has evolved over time to manage an expanding network. Its headquarters are located at 1221 East Broad Street in Richmond.

“Have a safe week!”
