Restoration News announced that activists in Virginia Beach have publicly shared personal information of a Turning Point USA club’s teacher sponsor at First Colonial High School, citing safety concerns and asking the school board to cancel the club.

According to emails obtained by Restoration News, parents and local activists formally petitioned the Virginia Beach school board to cancel the Turning Point USA club at First Colonial High School. The correspondence reportedly includes specific safety concerns and claims about the club’s activities.

WHRO reported that the Virginia Beach school board voted to maintain the suspension of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies following an April resolution. This decision came after an emergency meeting reviewing compliance with a state executive order.

The Bridging Divides Initiative reported that its Threats and Harassment Dataset recorded more than 20 incidents in April 2025, marking a decrease from March. The dataset tracks threats to local officials and educators over LGBTQ+ policies across nearly 40 states.

Turning Point USA is a nonprofit organization founded in 2012 by Charlie Kirk to promote conservative principles and activism among American college students. It operates chapters on campuses nationwide, focusing on free-market economics, limited government, and individual liberty through events, speakers, and media content. The group has expanded to include initiatives like Turning Point Action and faith-based programs, with a significant presence in student leadership development.
